Who will win this week's SFL mega matchup
Woodcreek visits Oakmont with league lead on the line

Oakmont's 6-foot-8 Tony Gill (23) hopes he and his Oakmont teammates can finally get past Woodcreek and 6-11 Mike Kurtz Wednesday night.

With the depth of talent in Sierra Foothill League boys basketball, it seems that every week brings another huge "game of the year" matchup.

As the season reaches the final two weeks, this week's battle will put someone in position to control its own destiny on the way to a potential league crown.

Woodcreek beat Oakmont on its home court a few weeks ago as the Vikings could not finish after hanging very close into the fourth quarter, but the Timberwolves have lost their last two games. Obviously the absence of 6-foot-11 center Mike Kurtz in the Del Oro contest had a huge impact, but Woodcreek has not been as dominant lately. Can the Timberwolves elevate their game once again?

Oakmont, on the other hand, has been playing sensational basketball, controlling the paint and hitting an amazing percentage from beyond the three-point arc. The Vikings now get to play Woodcreek at their place after losing a preseason tournament game at a neutral site and the prior league meeting across town.

Will the home court advantage and the recent momentum carry Oakmont past Woodcreek Wednesday night?

We won't know for sure until they lace them up, but the next 48 hours belongs to you to speculate and share your opinions on what might happen at what is sure to be a frenzied gym Wednesday night.

Vikes, if you play like you did Friday this game is yours!

Woodcreek has the personnel to win it, but lacks leadership. If the coach takes the reigns off and let's the players play, they can be dominating. But, right now, they're merely an average team.

Woodcreek is going to SMASH Oakmont by 20+. Oakmont uses less players off the bench than WC does.

It doesn't matter how many players they use off the bench. It's the quality of players. And Oakmont has some pretty good players in their starting lineup. Unless you can get them tired, they won't need to go to the bench. On the other hand, Woodcreek has some of their better players sitting on the bench.

Idm0024, If Oakmont is soo much better then WC, can you explain why WC is 2-0 vs Oakmont this year?? If they get tired...you kidding me?

johnnyrotten, other teams are improving and making adjustments the second time around the SFL schedule. Woodcreek is not making necessary adjustments and is not impoving. Believe me, I want Woodcreek to win, but I'm also not sticking my head in the sand and thinking that they way they've been playing is going to be good enough the second half of the schedule. You sure act like you're an authority of basketball. What have you ever done besides watch games on tv while sucking down Cheetos? I've played college ball and coached. How 'bout you?

ldm0024...quit being such a "poser"

Ok johnnyrotten or HSsportsfan or whoever you wish to be -- you win. You're right about whatever it is you need to be right about. I give. At least, we want Woodcreek to win. Go Timberwolves!

I predict...whichever team has the tallest dude playing will win...

Idm0024....first of all I Iove Cheetos. Why you hatin' cheetos?....you played college ball and coach?...I could go alot of directions with this but that would require using brain cells...i cannot spare any on the likes of you!
