The Breast Health Center at Sutter Roseville Medical Center received a generous donation of $5,258.20 from the Breast Cancer Awareness Bowling League that played at AMF Rocklin Lanes in a check presentation ceremony that took place March 10. This gift is the largest raised by any AMF league in the nation.

“This is a very special donation for our center, especially at a time when we know many are watching every dollar they spend,” said Amy Beazizo, R.N., clinical manager of the center. “It means a lot that those from the league felt strongly about donating to services that enhance the health and well-being of those within the community.”

Originally launched in 2008, the Breast Cancer Awareness League kicked off on Oct. 14, 2009, and met every Thursday for 16 weeks at AMF Rocklin Lanes until Jan. 30, 2010. The non-sanctioned, handicap league for both men and women contained nearly 60 regular participants, many of which work at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. A portion of the weekly dues and money raised through various raffles made up the donation.

“This particular league really rallied together and showed tremendous enthusiasm for this effort,” said Greg Dow, general manager of AMF Rocklin Lanes. “We are firm believers in the power of community involvement and we are happy to help facilitate that, especially through such a fun, family-friendly and interactive activity like bowling.”
